Principle : the thermal analysis encompasses a set of techniques designed to measure the evolution of a mineral material or organic as a function of time, temperature and atmosphere. these various techniques make possible the identification of the physical properties of materials during their life cycle.
the thermogravimetric analysis (atg), in english : thermogravimetric analysis (tga) is a technique of thermal analysis, which consists in the measurement of the mass change of a sample as a function of time, for a temperature or a temperature profile given.
such an analysis requires a good accuracy for the three measurements : mass, time and temperature. as the curves of variations of mass are often similar, it is often necessary to achieve treatment of these curves in order to interpret them. the derivative of these curves shows at which points these changes are the most important.
